چکیده
Our paper was motivated by (Chaudhuri and Rosenfeld, 1996), a paper in which several metrics related to the Hausdorff metric are given for fuzzy sets defined on the same nonempty support set S. The first metric given in (Chaudhuri and Rosenfeld, 1996), denoted F 0 in our paper, requires all the fuzzy sets considered by F 0 to have the same maximum value. Chaudhuri and Rosenfeld (1996) then modify F 0 to obtain other metrics we denoted by F~ and F 3 in which the assumption of a common maximum value is not necessary. The modifications made to obtain both F~ and F 3 call for associating with a fuzzy set u, another fuzzy set u' such that u ' (s . ) = 1 for some s, ~ S such that u(s~) = max{u(s) I s ~ S}. Unfortunately, we misstated the results of (Chaudhuri and Rosenfeld, 1996) conceming F~ and F 3 by incorrectly including hypotheses of a common maximum value for the fuzzy sets considered by these metrics. Statements are given below as they should have appeared in our paper,

On Hausdorff-like metrics for fuzzy sets
In (Chaudhuri and Rosenfeld, 1996), metrics were developed for fuzzy sets u and v defined on the same support set S. These metrics are based on applying the Hausdorff metric to pairs of membership level sets (u 1 ( [ tk, 1 ] ), v1 ( [ tk, 1 ] ) ), where tk E [0, 1] is a (possible) membership value of u or v. The metrics of (Chaudhuri and Rosenfeld, 1996) give nice comparisons of fuzzy sets by m...
متن کاملWeighted similarity measure on interval-valued fuzzy sets and its application to pattern recognition
A new approach to define the similarity measure betweeninterval-valued fuzzy sets is presented. The proposed approach isbased on a weighted measure in which the normalized similaritiesbetween lower functions and also between upper functions arecombined by a weight parameter. The properties of this similaritymeasure are investigated. It is shown that, the proposed measurehas some advantages in c...
متن کاملNew distance and similarity measures for hesitant fuzzy soft sets
The hesitant fuzzy soft set (HFSS), as a combination of hesitant fuzzy and soft sets, is regarded as a useful tool for dealing with the uncertainty and ambiguity of real-world problems. In HFSSs, each element is defined in terms of several parameters with arbitrary membership degrees. In addition, distance and similarity measures are considered as the important tools in different areas such as ...
متن کاملSimilarity measures of intuitionistic fuzzy sets based on Hausdorff distance
This paper presents a new method for similarity measures between intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs). We will present a method to calculate the distance between IFSs on the basis of the Hausdorff distance. We will then use this distance to generate a new similarity measure to calculate the degree of similarity between IFSs. Finally we will prove some properties of the proposed similarity measure a...
متن کاملCorrelation coefficients of linguistic interval hesitant fuzzy sets and their application
To address the hesitancy, inconsistency and uncertainty of decision makers’ cognitions, linguistic interval hesitant fuzzy sets (LIHFSs) are efficient tools. This paper focuses on studying the application of LIHFSs. To do this, two correlation coefficients of LIHFSs are defined, which needn't consider the length of elements in LIHFSs or the arrangement of their possible interval values. To addr...
